Social selling has moved well beyond experimentation, with more Australian businesses turning likes and followers into paying customers.
According to PayPal’s 2026 eCommerce Index, 67% of Australian businesses now sell through social media platforms.
Those businesses are seeing real results, with social channels generating 14% of their online sales, while social media accounts for 11% of online sales nationally.
Consumer demand is helping drive the trend, with 28% of Australians making a purchase or payment through a social media or streaming platform in the past six months.
Success brings new funding needs
Success through social media may create rapid growth that requires businesses to scale quickly.
That can mean investing in more inventory, better technology, digital marketing, additional staff and extra working capital.
Businesses that can access funding when opportunities arise are often better placed to maintain momentum without putting unnecessary pressure on cash flow.
Growth opportunities don’t always arrive with much notice. A broker can help compare funding options that give businesses the flexibility to invest when the timing is right.
